Picture yourself in far north Canada at the edge of civilisation during the time of the Gold-rush. This is where our journey begins. Four Englishmen and an Irishman embark on the adventurous and dangerous expedition to the "Jasper Junction" woodcutter camp. The aim of the journey is to find your way around the forests of Canada and to establish your own woodcutter company – an exciting and somewhat demanding endeavour. However, you will experience the kind hospitality and comfort of a woodcutter’s camp. A large dose of Canadian freedom awaits you on this trip. The old steam-train and railcar will whisk you away from civilisation and transport you to the adventures of the Canadian wilderness.

Possible event:
| Variation 1 Steam-train | Timetable | Route/program |
|---|---|---|
| Zürich HB | ca. 11:07 till 11:58 | Trip in the regional train to Weinfelden |
| Weinfelden - City | ca. 12:00 till 12:10 | The steam-train is ready for the "woodcutter" expedition |
| "Wood-cutter" Steam-Train | ca. 12:10 till 12:30 | Ready for the trip into the wilderness. Let’s raise our glasses of white wine to our courage and adventure before leaving civilisation! |
| The last stop before the unknown | ca. 12:30 till 13:20 | The steam-train will tank up with coal and water as the last stop. Will this be sufficient? The participants have the opportunity to observe everything first hand. |
| Small lunch | ca. 12:45 till 14:10 | Even the pioneers knew hunger and fortunately the railway-workers have provided your guests with a hearty woodcutter’s picknick, so that a real adventure would eventuate. Just after 13.00 it’s boarding time again but of course the pick-nick can carry on as the steam-train goes further and further into the wilderness. |
| Active part | ca. 14:10 till 17:00 | At "Jasper-Junction" in the middle of nowhere the game-keeper Fogarty welcomes you to the woodcutter expedition. As the way to the woodcutter’s camp is full of savages, the participants divide into groups and show their identification. Fortunately we are welcome to the woodcutter’s camp, however under the condition we will be useful! The participants are instructed on how to survive in the wilderness. Different disciplines are taught such as tree-trunk throwing, log cabin building, wood sawing, wood cricket, etc. As a finale there is the wood-cutting competition and of course only one group can win the respect of all the woodcutters with excellence. This of course is defended until a round of "Jass" determines the winner. |
| Dinner / Togetherness | ca. 17:30 | Canada’s fresh air and some physical work gives for a real apetite. The well-earned dinner in woodcutter style is a steak, a salad full of vitamins and a portion of potato energy in trunk-chips. This goes down well for the woodcutter and the evening is well spent together with a nice piece of Blackforest cake for dessert. |
| Return journey | ca. 20:30 till ??? | Our recently acquainted friends from England will be missed, therefore they would like to return home. So it’s good-bye to the Canadian woods and a short walk to the next stop before civilisation. Time has been turned back a bit and so a "petrol" vehicle will take the group back to small Switzerland. Depending upon the size of the group, an old American school-bus (up to 40 people) or an original London bus will pick you up and whilst being returned to familiar, modern surroundings perhaps the desire for new adventure already hits the participants. |
| Variation 2 Railcar | Time table | Route/program |
|---|---|---|
| City stations in Zürich | ca. 12:15 | The railcar is ready for the "woodcutter" expedition. |
| Old Jasper Valley Coach | ca. 12:15 till 14:15 | The trip to the "Jasper-junction" is leisurely... |
| Aperitif and lunch | ca. 12:15 till 14:15 | For strength needed before the big adventure, an aperitif and then a "woodcutter’s" plate will be served to the participants. At wish a warm meal can also be served. |
| Active part | ca. 14:15 till 17:00 | At "Jasper-junction", in the middle of nowhere, Fogarty, the ranger, welcomes you to the "woodcutter" expedition. The program goes ahead with the active part 1 (see variation "steam - train")... |
Rail Event wishes you a successful training in wood-cutting.
